A SEARCH is underway after a person went overboard from a ferry in the Firth of Clyde.
Emergency services, including a coastguard helicopter, launched the search after the incident between Dunoon and Gourock on Sunday afternoon.
CalMac and Western Ferries sailings on the route have been suspended and Police Scotland and the Scottish Ambulance Service are also in attendance.
RNLI lifeboats from Helensburgh and Largs have also been mobilised.
The person went overboard from a Western Ferries car and passenger service.
CalMac's MV Ali Cat is understood to be assisting coastguard crews with the search.
The company initially said its sailings were due to resume at 15:20, but that has now been pushed back indefinitely.
Searches were also carried out on foot along the Gourock waterfront.
A spokesperson for HM Coastguard said: “HM Coastguard are responding to reports of a person overboard between the Hunter’s Quay and Gourock area in Scotland.
“An HM Coastguard search and rescue helicopter has been tasked to conduct a search, alongside coastguard rescue teams from Largs and Dunoon, in addition to RNLI lifeboats from Helensburgh and Largs.
“Nearby vessels have been called to assist. Police Scotland and Scottish Ambulance Service are also in attendance.
“The situation is ongoing.”
