Missing Penshaw man Anthony Trueman found safe and well, police confirm

A man who was reported missing has now been found safe and well, police have confirmed.

A search was launched to find Penshaw man Anthony Trueman and a public appeal was made by Northumbria Police on Thursday.

However, on Friday morning, a spokesperson for the force said: "We are pleased to confirm that missing 36-year-old Penshaw man, Anthony Trueman, has been found fit and well earlier this morning. Thank you to everyone who helped police."

The appeal was made after the 36-year-old was seen leaving a home in the Allendale Crescent area at 11.15am on Thursday and his family had not heard from him.

The police said they were growing increasingly concerned for Anthony’s welfare and were appealing for anybody who knew his whereabouts, or who thought they had seen him, to come forward.

In the early hours of Friday, a message was sent out by police on social media channels informing the public that Mr Trueman was safe.
