Search to find 'dad and daughter' in photo taken just an hour before Notre Dame Cathedral engulfed by flames

A tourist in France is desperately trying to track down a 'dad and daughter' pictured playing outside Notre Dame Cathedral yesterday.

She is hoping to track the pair down after capturing their moment of joy outside the iconic landmark on a day which will go down in history.

In her tweet, she said: "I almost went up to the dad and asked if he wanted it. Now I wish I had. Twitter if you have any magic, help him find this."

She added: "I do not know for sure if it was a dad and daughter, it’s simply the dynamic I observed from them while debating on interrupting this moment. It may be an uncle, brother, friend, who knows until we find them."

The snap was taken at 5.57pm local time.

Notre Dame: Is there still hope for the cathedral after devastating fire?

The devastating blaze ripped through the 850-year-old Gothic building on Monday evening, April 15, as the people of France and millions across the world watched on.

A nation now in mourning, it's an uplifting sight to see what lengths people go to in order to reach out to others. The moving photograph has been described by twitter users as "a special moment in time".

One Twitter user wrote: "This has easily become my favorite photograph of Notre Dame."

Hiltrud Altit tweeted: "I am amazed and almost certain that the dad with his little girl will be found thanks to all the volunteers on social media. Life can be good!"
