A search operation has been launched for a missing diver in the Pentland Firth.
The alarm was raised around 6pm on Tuesday and coastguard crews, alongside RNLI colleagues, quickly launched a rescue mission.
A coastguard helicopter from Sumburgh is assisting in the search alongside two RNLI boats from Longhope and Wick.
Coastguard rescue teams from Kirkwall and St Margaret's Hope are also scouring the area, with three nearby vessels supporting the search.
The Pentland Firth, known to be a dangerous area due to its powerful tidal currents, separates the Orkney Islands from Caithness.
A HM Coastguard spokesperson told The Sun : "HM Coastguard is coordinating the search for a diver in Pentland Firth. The alarm was raised today (Tuesday 16th May) at about 6pm.
"The Coastguard helicopter from Sumburgh has been sent to assist, along with RNLI boats from Longhope and Wick, and Coastguard Rescue Teams from Kirkwall and St Margaret's Hope. Three nearby vessels are also supporting."
