Missing 80-year-old Hilda Robertson has been found safe and well

A pensioner who went missing in Sunderland has been found safe and well, police have confirmed.

Police officers were carrying out searches for Hilda Robertson who had been reported missing after last being seen at around 5.30pm on Tuesday.

The 80-year-old was on the number 12 bus near to St Matthew's Church on Silksworth Road in the city.

A picture of Hilda was shared on social media by Northumbria Police in the hope that somebody will recognise her.

And officers confirmed just before 11pm last night that Ms Robertson had been located.

A spokesman said: "Great news everyone. Hilda Robertson, 80, who went missing in Sunderland earlier has been found safe and well.

"Thanks to everyone who shared our appeal."
