Search launched to help find missing Barrhead man

A family is desperate for news of a man who has vanished in Barrhead.

Allan McDowall,50, may have visited one of the town's best known pubs the Cross Stobs Inn before disappearing.

The last positive sighting of him was in Princes Square, by his family, in the centre of Barrhead.

The Cross Stobs is about a mile away towards Paisley, at the end of Grahamston Road.

Police Scotland is appealing for help to trace Allan.

The last positive sighting was around 10am yesterday in Princes Square.

From enquiries carried out so far, it is believed he may have visited the Cross Stobs Inn during the day.

Allan is described as 6ft 2ins, with short hair and was wearing a white jacket with black shoulders.

Sergeant Mark Semple, from Giffnock Police Station, said: “Allan’s family are extremely concerned about him and it is out of character for him not to be in touch with them.

“I am appealing for any information which could assist in tracing him and would urge anyone who may have seen him, or has knowledge of his whereabouts, to contact police.

“I would also appeal directly to Allan to please get in touch with someone to confirm he is safe and well.

“Anyone with information can contact Police Scotland through 101, quoting number 3171 of September 13."
