Search launched for missing kayak off Qld

Water police are looking for a surf craft that was spotted floating off Bribie Island in Queensland. (AAP)

An air and sea search is under way after a kayak was seen floating off Bribie Island north of Brisbane.

Queensland Police say a purple kayak or surf ski was spotted drifting off Woorim Beach on the island at about 9.30am on Monday.

Water police are yet to locate the vessel and it is not known whether anyone was on board before it went missing.

Police are appealing for information.
