Jan. 26--The Glendale Unified school board appears to be closing in on their months-long search for its next superintendent.
In Davis on Tuesday morning, the Glendale school board held a special meeting at Davis Joint Unified School District, where the board planned to conduct interviews with "members of the public with reference to potential employment of an applicant for the position of Superintendent of Schools," according to an agenda report.
Although not confirmed, it appears the board's finalist for the job may be Winfred Roberson, Jr., the current superintendent at Davis Joint Unified.
"No final decision has been made, and the board is still in the search process," said Glendale School Board President Christine Walters.
Davis Joint Unified School Board President Madhavi Sunder told the Davis Vanguard in a recent article that Winfred Roberson "has been named the preferred candidate for the superintendent position in a professional search by a school district in a different region."
The Glendale school board initiated its search for a superintendent after former Glendale Unified Supt. Dick Sheehan took the top post in Covina-Valley Unified in May.
Tuesday's meeting in Davis follows two closed door meetings the Glendale school board conducted in Glendale last week to discuss their search.
