Search for owner of sentimental letter dating back to 1987 found at Glasgow Cathedral cemetery

A Glasgow woman has launched an appeal to find the owner of a sentimental letter, dating back three decades, found at a cemetery.

Laura Hepburn found the battered letter dated May 5, 1987, in the graveyard at the grounds of the Glasgow Cathedral on Thursday.

She's now hoping to return it to its rightful owner through the power of social media.

The letter has been written on paper from The Athenaeum Hotel in Piccadilly, London.

It's addressed to a man named Martin and details how the sender is getting on living in London.

It could be that the sender was working at the Athenaeum Hotel as the letter says that they're "fed up chambermaiding".

It goes on: "I'm going to look for something a bit better, more money is what I need.

"I'll have no problem finding a job anyway 'cause there's plenty down here."

The writer also mentions a friend called Debbie who has an American accent. They add that they're trying to get Debbie down to London for a birthday so they can "hit the town and get down to some jamming".

Laura is asking anyone who can help reunite the letter with its intended recipient to get in touch.
