Search for new chair of Cardiff Capital Region's business council

The Cardiff Capital Region (CCR) is looking for a business leader to chair its business council.

The council ensure a voice for business in the CCR, that covers the 10 local authorities of South East Wales and its £1.3bn City Deal.

It sits alongside the economic growth partnership, chaired by Frank Holmes and the cabinet of the CCR, made up of the leaders of the 10 local authorities, that have the final decision on City Deal projects. The cabinet is chaired by leader of Torfaen Council Anthony Hunt.

The chair will be appointed on a three-year, fixed-term basis, with the opportunity to extend to a further two years.

It comes after Neil Brierley has stepped down from the role.

Director of the Cardiff Capital Region City Deal, Kellie Beirne said: “This is an incredibly important appointment for us. It is pivotal to our desire to adopt a new model of engagement so that our businesses have a more central role in CCR discussion and decision making.

"We are seeking a new chair to work with us to bring focus, instil a robust sense of purpose and provide leadership for our business communities in their interactions with the CCR.”

Following the appointment of the new chair,  current vacancies on the council will also be filled.
