Search for missing woman as police grow concerned for her welfare

Police are becoming increasingly concerned for the welfare of a woman who went missing this morning.

A dog walker was approached by the woman at around 7.30am on Friday, who described her as being in a "distressed state" in the Flint Meadow area of Neston, Wirral.

She would not stop and walked away from the dog walker who called police.

Despite ongoing searches officers have been unable to track the woman down and they are growing increasingly concerned for her welfare.

The woman is thought to be in her mid-50s and is described as having grey hair and glasses.

She is wearing blue jeans which are mud stained at the bottom, and a black vest top with a thin grey top on with pink edging.

Cheshire Police have issued a missing person appeal and are urging anyone with information to contact them.

Insp Julien Culham said: “We are continuing to make enquiries in the area and would urge anyone who comes across the woman to contact us.”

Anyone with information should call police on 999 quoting IML 915909.
