A search for a missing surf ski rider is continuing in waters off North Stradbroke Island.

Police said two men, aged in their 20s, set off in separate skis from Dunwich, on the western side of Stradbroke Island about 10:30am yesterday.

They were bound for Cylinder Beach, around the top of the Island, but failed to make it back by sundown.

Neither of the men had food with them.

A search that included Water Police and a rescue helicopter was launched.

Search crews are continuing to scan the waters near Stradbroke Island.

One of the men, 28, paddled his way to shore at Amity Wharf about 8:00pm, but the second man, 26, is still missing.

The air search continued throughout the night, with the search from the water to continue today.

Meanwhile, another search and rescue operation was launched on Saturday night just west of Russell Island in Moreton Bay.

Two male jet ski riders got stuck on mud flats in the wake of one of their jet skis breaking down earlier in the afternoon.

Both were treated for hypothermia, before they were winched into the air and flown directly to Gold Coast University Hospital.
