The search for a missing Sligo teenager has been stood down after a body was recovered from the River Liffey yesterday.

Hazhar Hashemi, 16, had been missing from his home in Drumcliff since Tuesday.

Gardai issued a nationwide appeal for help finding the teen on Thursday.

The search was stood down after a body was recovered from the River Liffey in the Dublin 2 area on Friday.

A garda spokeswoman said this morning: "An Garda Síochána would like to thank the media and public for their assistance in this matter. No further action is required and no further information is available at this time."
