A major search operation was launched last night in Ayr after reports of a missing person.
Police mobilised a helicopter to help with the search from the sky, while officers led the hunt on foot.
A large presence descended on the river around 9pm with officers combing the scene.
The activity sparked huge concern on social media, with the force helicopter remaining in the skies as darkness fell.
But police have today confirmed the good news that the missing person was traced "safe and well".
