Search for missing Monaghan man stood down after gardai recover body

A body has been recovered by gardai in the search for a missing Monaghan man.

59-year-old Thomas McSkeane had last been seen at his home in Braddox, Castleshane in Monaghan at 9:45am on Tuesday morning.

However, following a garda operation on Wednesday afternoon, gardai ended their search for Mr McSkeane after a body was recovered.

A garda spokesperson said: "Following the recovery of a body in the course of a search operation in Monaghan this afternoon, 27th October 2021, a Missing Person Appeal in respect of Thomas McSkeane has been cancelled.

"An Garda Síochána would like to thank the media and public for their assistance in this matter. No further action is required and no further information is available at this time."
