Search for missing Kilcock man Brian Coyne called off after body discovered

The search for a Kildare man who has been missing for over a week has been called off after a body was discovered earlier today.

Brian Coyne, 24, went missing from his home in Kilcock, Co Kildare on December 27.

His family and friends launched a desperate search for him in the town and surrounding areas in recent days.

A garda spokesman confirmed this evening that the search has now been stood down following the discovery.

He said: "Following the discovery of a body earlier today, Tuesday, 5th January, 2021, the search for missing person Brian Coyne has been stood down.

"We would like to thank the media and the public for their assistance in this matter."
