Search for missing boy, 16, resumes for second day as 100 volunteers join police

The search for a missing teenager has resumed for a second day as police desperately appeal for help.

Lucas Webb, 16, has not been seen since 1.30pm yesterday, prompting serious concerns for his safety.

A search and rescue team was this morning seen getting ready to search for Lucas, who vanished from Barham in Canterbury.

Dozens of volunteers have also gathered to look for the missing teen.

Last night a helicopter was seen flying over the village in an effort to find the teen.

A Kent Police spokesman told Kent Live this morning: "Lucas is still missing and we continue to appeal to anyone who has seen him or knows where he might be."

He is described as being of medium build, with blonde short hair, Kent Police said.

Lucas was last seen wearing a light grey hooded top, dark trousers, brown boots and lime green coloured gloves.

He also had a lime green coloured bike and a large backpack with him.

Police are now asking the public to provide any information they may have while their search is ongoing.

Kent Police said in a statement: "Officers are appealing for the public’s help in trying to locate a missing teenager from Canterbury.

"Lucas Webb, 16 was last seen in Barham in Canterbury at about 1.30pm on Saturday 12 December.

"Anyone with information is asked to contact Kent Police on 101 quoting reference 12-0947."

Responding to a police appeal on Facebook, one distraught mum posted: "My son is upset that his friend is missing & we’re able & willing to help in any way we can."
