Search for kind stranger who helped woman after she was attacked

Police are searching for a kind stranger who offered to help a woman after she was assaulted.

It follows an incident from 9.15pm on Saturday, February 22, when officers were called to reports of an attack on Gadbrook Grove, Atherton.

The woman was assaulted while she was inside a white Ford Transit van on the road.

She went to hospital the following day and was treated for minor injuries.

Police investigating the incident believe an unknown member of the public approached the victim to offer support following the attack and said he witnessed what happened, although he did not leave details.

Officers have put out an appeal on social media for this witness to come forward with any information they might have.

They have also asked to speak to anyone else who may have witnessed the assault or have further details which could help.

Anyone with information should contact police on 0161 856 7225, quoting crime number CRI/06LL/0004359/20.

Reports can also be made anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
