A Northumbria Police spokesperson said: “At about 5.15pm yesterday (Sunday) we received a report of a one-vehicle collision in the Elmfield Road area of Throckley.

“It was reported that the male driver had crashed through a garden fence, before getting out of the car and acting aggressively towards the occupant who was known to him.

“Officers attended the scene but the man had already made off on foot. Attempts are ongoing to trace him.

“Police remain in the area to carry out a range of enquiries. Anyone with information is asked to contact police via the ‘Tell Us Something’ page of our website or by calling 101 quoting reference NP-20210905-0803.”
