A huge search is continuing for a missing British woman who vanished from her sunbed on a beach in Greece while her husband was asleep.
Michele Ann Joy Bourda, 59, had been swimming at Ofrynio beach in the city of Kavala around midday on Friday before disappearing.
Local police have been conducting a search on land for the tourist while Greece’s Hellenic Coast Guard have been scouring the sea for any sign of her.
A Silver Alert has been issued by a missing persons charity after the police failed to immediately locate the tourist, with authorities warning she may be in danger.
According to local news reports, Ms Bourda went to the beach in northern Greece with her husband.
He was reportedly asleep when she vanished.
Ms Bourda is described as being 5ft6in, of a slim build with blue eyes and shoulder length hair.
She was last seen wearing a two-piece beaded swimsuit, yellow beach shoes, and a pair of red sunglasses.
Greek missing persons charity Lifeline Hellas issued the Silver Alert on Saturday.
“Her life is in danger. If you know anything, contact the Silver Alert service, 24 hours a day, at the National SOS Line 1065,” the alert said.
