Search continues for missing boy at Lough Mask in Co Mayo

A major search is continuing this morning for a little boy at a lake in Co Mayo.

The child is believed to have gone missing after falling off an inflatable while in the waters of Lough Mask, near Toormakeady on Monday evening.

The five-year-old is understood to be from the local area.

The operation involving gardai, the Coast Guard, Civil Defence, Lough Mask Water Rescue and local divers swung into action at around 6.30pm after the alarm was raised.

Pictures taken by the Irish Mirror late into the search last night show a Coast Guard helicopter flying over the lake, conducting an aerial survey in an attempt to find the boy.
