'We are coming back': Family pins note to missing dad's tent

Search teams have headed out into the Tasmanian bush for a fourth day looking for a man who police say will be struggling with the effects of Parkinson's disease, having been without his medication since going missing.

Tasmanian bushwalker Bruce Fairfax, 66, was walking on the 2.1-kilometre track towards Duckhole Lake with his wife Louise and dog Tessa on Saturday afternoon, when she went on ahead, agreeing to meet up with him later at a lakeside picnic site.

Around 60 people were involved in the effort to find Mr Fairfax yesterday, with police saying an "extensive search continues today" around the four kilometre track, which Parks Tasmania lists as an "easy stroll" and "suitable for all age groups".

Family members attached a note to a tent used by Mr Fairfax in case he made it back to his campsite.

"Bruce, please stay here. We are coming back first thing in the morning. Love Lou, Kirsten and Lena.

"We love you dad, please be safe. Love you, love you, love you."

Mr Fairfax is described as "experienced", wearing an orange and red jacket and blue pants, and being in "medium condition".

Mark Nelson, from Tasmania's State Emergency Service, said there was still hope among the search teams.

"We are going to put in another full day today and because of the weather conditions being quite good, there's always hope we'll be lucky today and pick him up," he said.

Mr Fairfax's daughters joined the search on Monday, along with volunteers and a search dog.

The ABC understands a helicopter used in the search effort yesterday will not be used today, with off-road motorcycles being brought added to the search efforts.

His medical condition following days without medicine would likely mean Mr Fairfax is unable to signal for help in what police described as "very thick, hard to penetrate" bushland.

Parks Tasmania advises the trail at Duckhole Lake is "an easy stroll to an idyllic lake".

"Duckhole Lake is a flooded sinkhole that is part of the surrounding cave and karst landscape," the website stated.
