Search continues for man who went missing before Christmas

The search to find a missing man continue on the Mersey after he disappeared just before Christmas.

James Miller was last seen on the night of December 22, and his disappearance as sparked a series of appeals for information.

Specialist search teams have used sonar on the Mersey as they enter the second week of their search, the Liverpool Echo reports.

Officers from a police underwater search and marine unit were drafted in on Wednesday (December 30).

The team, which supports police forces across the North West, spent the day on the Mersey equipped with sonar as the bid to find him continued.

James was last seen at 11pm on Tuesday, December 22 on Slater Street, in the Latchford area of Warrington.

Cheshire Police has issued several appeals in the hope someone may have seen the 38-year-old.

The force has also urged people to check their sheds in the hope they may find him.

Speaking on Christmas Eve, when the first public appeal was issued, PC Angela Bahn, of the Warrington Local Policing Unit, said: "We're becoming increasingly concerned for James as time goes on and are continuing to search the area he was last seen.

"I am encouraging anyone who thinks they may have seen James, or know of his whereabouts, to please contact us. I would also ask residents to check their sheds and outbuildings and report any information to us.

"James, if you see this please get in touch with us on 101 as your family are really worried about you."

James is described as 5ft 8ins tall with bright blue eyes, of a medium build and with a distinctive scar on the side of his head.

When last seen he was wearing a white T-shirt and grey jogging bottoms and is believed to be on foot.
