Sean Williams death: Man charged with murder of 33-year-old at illegal south London rave

A man has been charged with the murder of Sean Williams, who was stabbed to death at an illegal rave in south London.

Sanjay Lawrence, 38, of Brockley, was previously charged with grievous bodily harm in relation to a different man during the same incident in Culverley Road, Catford, on September 6, the Metropolitan Police said.

He was further charged with murder on Tuesday, and is now set to appear at Bromley Magistrates’ Court on November 25.

An inquest into the death of 33-year-old Mr Williams was opened on Tuesday, and suspended ahead of forthcoming criminal proceedings.

Deputy senior coroner Henrietta Hill said the immediate cause of death was an “incised wound to the neck”.

Police and the London Ambulance Service were called to nearby Thornsbeach Road to reports of a stabbing, and Mr Williams, of Arnulf Street, died at the scene shortly after 6.15am.

A second person injured in the incident, aged 37, took himself to a south London hospital with a non-life-threatening knife injury to his hand.
