Sean Shelby’s Shoes: What’s next for Frankie Edgar after UFC 240 title loss?

Frankie Edgar became the first fighter in UFC history to suffer five championship fight losses when he fell short of the featherweight title against Max Holloway on Saturday at UFC 240.

Edgar (23-7-1 MMA, 17-7-1 UFC), the former UFC lightweight titleholder, again came up short in his bid for the 145-pound strap when he lost a unanimous decision to Holloway (21-4 MMA, 17-4 UFC) at Rogers Place in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.

At 37, Edgar might not have much more rope at the very elite level of the sport, but he insisted post-fight that he’s not done yet and will attempt to rebuild just like he has after previous setbacks.

The title window for “The Answer” is shrinking, though, and he may not have much more time to capitalize.

What does the loss mean for Edgar? Watch the video above for thoughts and analysis on his future.
