Sean O’Malley in no rush to get fast tracked, but confident that his performances will get him there

Sean O'Malley is one of the fastest rising stars in the UFC and he’s planning on letting his performances propel him to the top.

The undefeated 25-year-old has only had three UFC fights, but is already one of the most popular fighters on the roster. O’Malley (11-0 MMA, 3-0 UFC) returned after a two-year layoff in March and looked like he hadn’t missed a beat when he stopped Jose Quinonez in the first round. While he has the ability to get fast tracked, O’Malley is in no rush.

He is confident that if he keeps performing the way he did at UFC 248, he’ll get there sooner rather than later.

“I’m just going with the flow,” O’Malley told MMA Junkie. “I’m going to go out there and perform in my next fight just as good as I performed in my last fight, so it’s going to be hard to not fight better guys each guys each time. I’m going to go knock out the next three guys in a row. I’ll probably get a title shot. So it’s hard to say with injuries, and now this whole (coronavirus) situation going on – it’s hard to guess when I’m going to be champ or when I’m going to … I don’t know. I plan on fighting for the next 10 years, so I’m not really in a hurry.

“Once you’re champ, you’re fighting the next best dude every single fight and that takes a toll on you. So I’m not necessarily in a rush to get there, but I also know that if I keep going out there and performing the way I’m going to, it’s going to happen.”
