Sean McVay: TE Johnny Mundt’s knee injury ‘doesn’t look good’

Despite losing Gerald Everett in free agency this offseason, the Rams still have good depth at tight end with Tyler Higbee leading the group. He’s been backed up by Johnny Mundt and Jacob Harris, with Brycen Hopkins also on the roster. But that depth will be tested after Mundt suffered a knee injury in the team’s win over the Giants on Sunday.

After the game, Sean McVay told reporters that Mundt’s knee injury “doesn’t look good right now,” an indication that it could be a serious injury for the tight end.

The Rams will evaluate Mundt further but the fact that he was ruled out so quickly during the game is a bad sign, too.

If Mundt were to miss time, Harris would be in line for a bigger role and Hopkins would likely be active on game days, too.
