Sean McVay ribs Jared Goff for failed QB sneak: ‘Worst sneaker’ ever

Jared Goff isn’t the most athletic quarterback in the league, nor is he one of the biggest. Yet, the Rams have run several quarterback sneaks with him, oftentimes with success.

That didn’t happen on Sunday against the Falcons when Goff tried to push his way into the end zone from the 1-yard line on second down but was stonewalled by Atlanta. The following play, Goff showed off his mobility by rolling out and running it in for a touchdown, but McVay ribbed the quarterback after the game for not getting in on the sneak.

“I told him he’s the worst sneaker in the history of football for us to even have to run that play,” McVay said with a smile. “I didn’t see the spike, but I did see the move. He looked pretty athletic right there. He better have gotten in, too, but it was a nice job.”

McVay and Goff have a great relationship, so it’s no surprise that the coach would take a playful jab at his quarterback. Fortunately, Goff made up for the failed sneak by getting in on the following play, his third touchdown of the game.
