Sean McVay not worried about Rams overlooking ‘very competitive’ Bengals

The Los Angeles Rams didn’t have the easiest schedule in the first seven weeks of the season, facing tough teams like the Saints, Panthers and 49ers. They got off to an underwhelming 4-3 start, but considering their opponent on Sunday, the Rams should finish the first half of the year at 5-3.

They’ll face the 0-7 Bengals in London this weekend, a game that greatly favors Los Angeles. Cincinnati has been one of the worst teams in the league this season, both offensively and defensively.

Greater upsets have happened in the NFL, but the Rams shouldn’t have much trouble winning in Week 8. Sean McVay isn’t looking at it that way, and he doesn’t believe his players are either.

“That’s never been an issue,” McVay said of the Rams getting complacent against a lesser opponent. “There is too many good coaches and players in this league, no matter what the record is. When you flip on the film for the Bengals, they are a very competitive team. They do a good job, and I think our guys understand the urgency that’s necessary for us to continue to build on last week’s performance. I trust the veteran leadership that we have that, that won’t be an issue with us.”

The Rams blew out the Falcons on the road last week, 37-10, and given the 13.5-point spread, it wouldn’t be surprising to see another lopsided score in this one. The Rams still have to take care of business and put together a clean game to win on Sunday, otherwise Cincinnati could pull off one of the bigger upsets of the season.
