Sean McVay disappointed Rams won’t get to face Antonio Brown

When the Los Angeles Rams scheduled joint practices with the Oakland Raiders, they were hoping to face arguably the best wide receiver in the NFL two straight days. Unfortunately, frostbitten feet are keeping Antonio Brown off the practice field and sidelined for the foreseeable future.

Brown missed practice Wednesday and will be out again on Thursday as he manages his foot injury, which happened when he didn’t wear proper footwear in the cryotherapy chamber. You can bet Marcus Peters and Aqib Talib would’ve loved to face Brown, but they won’t get that chance.

Sean McVay is disappointed Brown won’t be out there, saying “he’s a great player.”

“Any time that you get a chance to practice against a great player, it can’t help but make you a better,” McVay said. “Hopefully, he makes a quick recovery. He’s a special player and a guy I’ve always loved watching compete from afar. I hope he’s able to heal as quickly as possible. But yeah, I would’ve loved to have gotten some work against him and that’s a bummer for us.”

Brown makes life difficult for any defensive back he faces. His quickness, speed and hands are as good as they come, consistently finding ways to get open for his quarterback. The Rams’ cornerbacks certainly have their hands full with Brandin Cooks, Robert Woods and Cooper Kupp, but facing Brown wouldn’t have hurt.
