Sean McComb not feeling any added pressure ahead of headline bout

Sean McComb insists he doesn't feel any added pressure as he prepares to take the next step in his professional career.

The uber-talented super-lightweight has eased to nine straight wins in the paid ranks since making his pro debut at Windsor Park in the summer of 2018.

His stock continues to rise, with fighters including former two-weight world champion Carl Frampton tipping the former Holy Trinity amateur for big things in his career.

McComb returns to action on Saturday, his first outing in neatly four months, when he tops the bill for the first time on the massive MTK Fight Night at the Ulster Hall.

Standing in the opposite corner will be rugged South American Mauro Maximiliano Godoy, the experienced Argentinian boxer whose record (32 (17KOs)-5-1) boasts more knockouts than McComb has had fights.

"A headline fight means nothing. It is just another fight," McComb said.

"I have already fought at a sold-out Ulster Hall before, and my last fight there I was co-main event with Paddy Barnes. So it is not a different experience for me.

"Again, it is just another fight and you have to win it no matter what.

"If people enjoy watching me boxing then happy days, but I am sure some people might not enjoy watching me box.

"People will criticise me, and I am open to criticism. People criticise me all the time, and I am open to that.

"Some people see me as a top prospect, some don't. That's fine. People will see me as they see me.

"My main focus is winning. People say I am a prospect, but a prospect for what? What any boxer wants to achieve is win a world title.

"You have to train your b**** off to achieve that. And that's what I am willing to do."

McComb's professional career has been laced with high-profile shows and character-building performances.

He faces another acid test on Saturday against Godoy, but McComb insists he is ready to make another statement.

"We are moving up a level again with Godoy. He is very dangerous with a lot of knockout power," he added.

"It is a step up, and it is something I believe I can do and will enjoy doing."
