Sean McComb explains meaning behind his hilarious catchphrase 'bang bang gravy chip'

Sean McComb has explained the meaning behind his famous 'bang bang gravy chip' catchphrase.

McComb knows how to entertain - whether it is in or outside of the ring.

The West Belfast boxer will be looking to impress when he returns to action tonight at the Ulster Hall.

The unbeaten super-lightweight takes on Miroslav Serban on the undercard of Ryan Burnett's comeback fight at the iconic venue.

McComb has been enjoying the build-up throughout the week, including Wednesday's press conference when he was asked about the hilarious catchphrase that he has become famous for.

Anyone who follows the 26-year-old on social media will have heard him sign off his posts with 'bang bang gravy chip'.

So what does it mean?

"It just means in and out, like an armed robber," McComb joked.

"It is an old saying from back in the Holy Trinity boxing days. When you were sparring someone, and it was that easy, it was 'bang bang gravy chip, see you later, I'm away home'.

"It will be the same this Friday - bang bang gravy chip."

McComb was also asked why he chose his boxing nickname.

And he revealed he got it after he was falsely accused of 'causing public nuisance' at the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games last year.

Ryan Burnett admits he lived on pizza as he came to terms with back injury ordeal

"I was wrongly accused of something during those Games," McComb said.

"I was arrested, but I was innocent. Don't forget that.

"I was charged for being a public nuisance, and got $567 fine which I still haven't paid, so if anyone wants to throw me a few quid to pay it, I would be very grateful.

"The CCTV footage was released a couple of days after which proved my innocence. I still stuck with the name though."

Headlining tonight is returning former unified world champion Burnett, who faces Jelbirt Gomera, while Marco McCullough and Declan Geraghty contest the IBF European super-featherweight crown.

The bill also features Lewis Crocker, Steven Donnelly, Padraig McCrory and others.
