Sean Mackie only found out he was going to Dundee at around 3pm on transfer deadline day.
The Hibs left back made the temporary switch from Easter Road to Dens Park until the end of the season as Peterborough’s Jason Naimsith penned a similar deal with Hibs.
The plan is for Mackie to play regularly, although his departure leaves Lewis Stevenson as the only senior, natural left back in Paul Heckingbottom’s squad.
Mackie hadn’t played for Hibs since being sent off in the 6-1 defeat to Rangers at Ibrox last month, and jumped at the chance of more regular game time, even if the opportunity did come late in the day.
“George Craig (Head of Football Operations at Hibs) came to me after training yesterday at about 3 o’clock and said to sit tight and to wait and see what happens," he explained.
“He phoned me later on and said it looked likely I could go to Dundee and I was happy with that, to come out and try get games under my belt.
“I met the manager, the players and the staff this morning and they have all made me feel welcome.
“I’ve been shown around and trained today which was good to get to know the boys a bit better.”
