Sean Longstaff stance on Man Utd transfer after Newcastle set huge price tag

Sean Longstaff is ready to accept Newcastle's decision to price him out of a move to Manchester United .

Longstaff, 21, broke into the Newcastle first-team last season and has emerged as a target for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at Old Trafford as he looks to revamp his squad this summer.

But Mirror Football revealed earlier this week that United were ready to end their interest due to Newcastle's huge asking price.

The Magpies are looking for around £50m for Longstaff, who could be a potential replacement for Ander Herrera at Old Trafford.

Manchester United are unlikely to go near that fee and will explore other targets if they cannot persuade Newcastle to drop the price tag.

Longstaff is believed to be open to making the move to Old Trafford and would like to speak to the club.

But he remains fully committed to Newcastle and accepts they don't want to sell him, according to Sky Sports presenter Kaveh Solhekol.

Newcastle are closing in on the appointment of Steve Bruce as manager and one of his priorities will be clarifying the future of Longstaff.

United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants reinforcements in midfield following Herrera's departure and amid uncertainty surrounding the future of Paul Pogba.

The Frenchman has made no secret of his desire to move on with Juventus and Real Madrid both interested.

Sporting Lisbon midfielder Bruno Fernandes is also a target for United but they face competition from rivals Man City.

United begin their pres-season schedule against Perth Glory in Australia on Saturday with Pogba, and new boys Daniel James and Aaron Wan-Bissaka, likely to be involved.

Solskjaer's men will then take on Leeds before heading for their pre-season tour of the States later this month.
