Sean Longstaff gets a chance as Carroll waits - Newcastle team news

Newcastle United boss Steve Bruce handed Sean Longstaff a start against Fulham at Craven Cottage while Martin Dubravka was passed fit to start in the final game of the season.

It meant Joelinton was left out of the starting line-up while Miguel Almiron and Allan Saint-Maximin led the attack.

Bruce named Andy Carroll on the bench while Fabian Schar was also on the sidelines.

And there was also a place for Matty Longstaff as sub with the youngster eager to impress.

Dubravka had struggled to get through the 1-0 win over Sheffield United but was played ahead of Mark Gillespie.

Bruce named his strongest team and stuck to his vow of not going down the sentimental road.

That meant Elliot Anderson was not involved at Fulham while rookie keeper Dan Langley also missed out.

UNITED : Dubravka, Murphy, Krafth, Fernandez, Dummett, Ritchie, S Longstaff, Shelvey, Willock, Almiron, Saint-Maximin

Subs : Gillespie, Clark, M Longstaff, Schar, Carroll, Gayle, Lewis, Hendrick, Manquillo
