Sean Lock's final public video to raise money for food charity before he died aged 58

Sean Lock's final public video was urging people to support a food poverty charity.

The iconic comedian died aged 58 yesterday following a battle with cancer - and tributes poured in from stars such as Lee Mack who described his friend as a "true original in both comedy and in life."

Sean's last public message was filmed in December for Edible London as the UK was preparing to enter the January lockdown.

The charity released the video on their Instagram channel offering its thanks to the comedian for supporting its initiative - when they provided one million free meals to people in need last year.

The post read: "A million thanks and big love to the legendary comedian, Sean Lock for getting behind our crowd funder campaign and adding some much needed humour to our days leading up to Christmas and the end of this incredibly challenging year."

Sean's distinctive brand of deadpan humour is on display in the video as he begins: "Hello, everyone, my name is Sean Lock - you may know me as that bloke off the telly, whose name you cannot remember. There it is. I have helped you out there."

The comedian then goes onto praise the food charity's important activities in their fight to eradicate food poverty in our communities - and urged people to get involved.

He continues: "How amazing is this? Since the beginning of the first lockdown to now, thanks to hundreds and thousands of volunteers and sixty plus partners, Edible London has been able to supply the ingredients of 1 million meals to those who need it most. "And all for free!

"Now, on their journey to providing the next million meals, they have set up a crowdfunder and for every 50p donated, one free meal can be created."

Fans took to the comments of the video to pay tribute to Sean Lock.

Another commented: "Such a loss xx"

A third added: "Rest in Peace xx"
