Sean Kingston is expected to "fully recover" from a jet ski accident on Sunday May 29 May, where he suffered a broken jaw, fractured wrist and water in his lungs. Though Kingston remains in hospital, sources close to the singer told CNN he should be healed in six weeks.
Kingston, 21, was coasting down Miami Beach, Florida with 23-year-old Cassandra Sanchez when het hit a small bridge. The singer bought the watercraft the previous day and was "going really fast", Sanchez recalled. Kingston's life jacket apparently fell off during the crash, and when he surfaced he was "coughing up blood", Sanchez said. "When he finally opened his eyes, he kept repeating the words, 'I'm hurting. I'm hurting.'"
Originally admitted to the trauma ward, Kingston was later downgraded from critical to stable condition. He is now reportedly resting in an intensive care unit, and is "aware of what is going on around him".
Sanchez, who was not seriously injured in the crash, insisted she won't be pressing charges against Kingston. "I am going to be visiting him in the hospital at some point soon and hope he has a speedy recovery," she said. "I know he didn't mean to get either of us hurt. I know this whole thing was just an accident. Sean is a good guy."
Kingston was just 17 when his song Beautiful Girls made him an international star in 2007. The Miami-born singer has since collaborated with artists including Beyoncé, Justin Bieber and Nicki Minaj. His third studio album is expected later this year.
