Here is your Monday morning Liverpool digest on January 3.
Dyche responds to Klopp
As the fixtures pile up for Liverpool, the squad Jurgen Klopp has assembled will be forced to play every few days.
With the Reds navigating injuries, the African Cup of Nations and the rise of Covid-19, Klopp has said that he would be in favour of seeing five substitutes per match returning but conceded the clubs at the bottom of the league are likely to reject the idea.
Burnley boss Sean Dyche had his say on the possibility of teams making two more subs per game and found time to reply to Klopp and say why Liverpool would want to play more players.
“If I’m now the Liverpool manager, do you think I want five subs? Of course, I do, exactly," he said.

Clarkson returns to Anfield
Blackburn Rovers are flying high in the Championship, sitting in second place and three points behind leaders Bournemouth.
With all the success they have had this season, it's meant that on-loan midfielder Leighton Clarkson has struggled for game time.
With the January transfer window open, Rovers boss Tony Mowbury has confirmed that Clarkson will return to Liverpool for the remainder of the season.
“He knows football, it’s hurting him because he’s a Rovers fan and I haven’t been able to give him the game-time and he understands that because the team is winning and functioning," said Mowbury.
