Sean Dyche has already addressed major Wout Weghorst issue amid Everton 'interest'

Wout Weghorst namedropped Sean Dyche in a moment picked up on camera during the international break amid ongoing suggestions he might soon be reunited with the Everton manager.

Still officially a Burnley player, Weghorst spent last season at Beskitas and Manchester United on loan, conjuring up varied results, and there remains intense speculation over his future now the market has formally reopened. But will the 30-year-old Netherlands targetman touch down at Goodison Park next season?

Although there is nothing to suggest Weghorst is a concrete target, at this stage, Everton do want to bring in two strikers to offset problems in that particular area. Of course, the goal record totted-up by the Dutchman here in the UK is not exactly something to get pulses racing.

Despite his struggles in that domain at Burnley and United respectively, the ex-Wolfsburg man did put together an impressive record in the Bundesliga (59 goals in 118 matches) before, also, striking at one-in-two during his loan spell with Besiktas (nine goals in 18 matches) in the Super Lig.

Goals are, fortunately, not his only weapon. Regarded for pressing, hold-up play and linking things together from a central attacking position, Weghorst underlined his quality in the World Cup as his double went so close to spoiling the party for eventual winners Argentina at the last-8 stage.

Naturally, people will be drawn straight to his Premier League record, which reads a paltry two goals in 37 matches, but Dyche has addressed that concern previously.

Speaking about the targetman shortly after his initial move to Burnley - amid his struggles in hitting the net - Dyche said: "I never question my players in the final moment of truth. I only question if they're not getting in the right areas.

"He's definitely getting in the right areas. He's effective with assists, he's creating his own chances and he's getting into places that can help the team. We want that to continue and I'm absolutely sure if it does he will get goals."

Dyche added: "We look at all the stats [when signing a player] but, sometimes, it's just on the visual performances and, visually, he's been very good. We brought him in because we felt he could operate within the side and add to what the side has done, apart from scoring he has added to that.

"Add in the stats and that's a player who is very motivated to come in and make a difference."

Motivated, the Dutchman still is. With room for improvement in the goals department, Dyche already knows more than anyone what Weghorst brings to the table and it might just be that team-first approach which enables him to thrive at Goodison Park and beyond if Everton press forward with proposed interest.
