Sean Dyche details Jurgen Klopp confrontation and comments on cause of tunnel bust-up

Sean Dyche played down his tunnel bust-up with Jurgen Klopp after seeing his Burnley side win 1-0 at Anfield on Thursday night.

Ashley Barnes’ second-half penalty handed the Clarets a shock win, to put another dent in Liverpool ’s hopes of retaining their Premier League title.

It was the Reds’ first home defeat in the Premier League in almost four years.

And at half-time, the two managers were involved in their own fracas, as angry words were exchanged in the tunnel area.

Klopp made his customary dash towards the tunnel as the half-time whistle was blown.

However, an on-field incident involving Fabinho and Barnes stopped the German in his tracks.

Dyche walked past and said something to the Kop boss, who proceeded to angrily pursue his opposite number.

Dyche fired back before eventually making his way down towards the changing rooms, leaving a seething Klopp behind him.

After his side’s victory, Klopp was asked about it, and responded: “I didn’t start it but all good.”

Dyche was also asked to give his take on what had occurred.

And while he gave little away, there was a pointed remark insinuating that his opposite number had perhaps been unhappy with the physicality shown by his side during the first half.

“You know we come to these places and we are allowed to actually fight,” said Dyche.

“We are allowed to actually try and win. That’s all it was.

“A couple of things were said. It’s just two managers fighting for their teams, wanting to win the game.

“You are allowed to say your piece if it is appropriate and I did.

“There’s nothing wrong with that.”
