Burnley boss Sean Dyche believes Liverpool were flattered by the win that has edged them nearer Champions League qualification.
Goals from Roberto Firmino, Nat Phillips and substitute Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain earned the Reds a 3-0 triumph at Turf Moor on Wednesday.
Liverpool have moved into the top four for the first time in three months and will secure their place with victory at home to Crystal Palace on Sunday.
Burnley, though, had chances, particularly during a first half in which the visitors were below their best.
And asked if the final score flattered Jurgen Klopp’s side, Dyche said: “You don’t want to keep saying that there’s a little bit of that in it.
“They are a quality side and purring at the moment. They took their chances very clinically, we didn’t take ours.
“We did pretty well overall against them. There were a lot of good signs and we had more of the ball than we probably ever have had against Liverpool.
“But the gap is there to see. They had three shots on target and scored three. That’s sometimes what it is against quality side.
“We had some great moments in important areas of the pitch and should have made more from it.
“There was no lack of effort from our players.”
Around 3,500 fans were inside Turf Moor to generate a lively atmosphere in the first Liverpool game since December not to be played behind closed doors.
And of the return of supporters after 15 months away from the stadium, Dyche added: “Terrific. There’s a long way to go for life let alone football, but it’s great to see fans back in.
“It’s been a long, long time. I do believe fans make a difference. A lot of has been written about our home form (Burnley haven’t won at home since January), and the fans are important – they have helped the team.”
