Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs celebrated his 51st birthday in style despite the ongoing coronavirus pandemic but his lavish party has been slammed as "out of touch" and "selfish".
The American rapper followed in Kim Kardashian ’s footsteps by jetting off to Turks and Caicos for a sun-filled birthday bash.
The I’ll Be Missing You hitmaker invited a selection of his closest celebrity pals including Mary J. Blige, Nas, French Montana, DJ Ruckus, Draya Michele and choreographer Laurieann Gibson who all flocked together to celebrate the rapper's epic party.
VIP guests were treated to an array of delicious food platters and they sipped on expensive cocktails that were made especially with some of Diddy's favourite ingredients, reports Page Six.
The birthday boy shared an inside glimpse into the island shindig when he took to Instagram to post a number of videos.
In one clip, the artist dances around a blazing fire pit with pals Nas, Blige and his sons Justin and Christian.
Another video shows an epic firework display as guests watched the colours explode in the night sky from the beach party.
After sharing the videos with his 17.3 million followers, the rapper faced backlash due to the fact that he flew a large number of friends and family to the islands amid the pandemic.
Furious Instagram users dubbed Diddy "out of touch" and "selfish" after he unapologetically posted snaps from the lavish getaway.
One unimpressed fan commented: "Diddy throwing a huge birthday party with bunches of famous faces during a pandemic? I mean, how out of touch can one person be?".
"I think it's so selfish. Yeah okay, do it, but keep it quiet and stop flaunting it about on the internet for the world to see" another raged.
"It's almost as if millions of people aren't dying across the world because of a pandemic. Idiot!" a third added.
It comes after Keeping Up With The Kardashians star Kim Kardashian faced serious criticism after she rented out a private island for her 40th birthday bash.
The group of less than 30 people jetted out on October 20, returning five days later.
Kim was branded "tone deaf" by many for the trip that took place at Marlon Brando's The Brando Resort in Tahiti.
The reality star’s own home state of California is under a non-essential travel ban.
But the socialite didn’t seem too bothered by the rules as she ignored the ban to jet her family off to Tahiti in a private plane.
Kim was joined by a number of her friends and family members, including sisters Kourtney, Khloe and Kendall, brother Rob, and mom Kris Jenner.
Kris' beau Corey Gamble was also there, as was Kourtney's ex Scott Disick and Khloe's ex Tristan Thompson.
