Sean “Diddy” Combs reportedly survived a terrifying incident behind bars after being attacked in his sleep by another inmate, according to a close friend. The 55-year-old music mogul, serving time following his conviction earlier this year, is said to have narrowly escaped serious injury.
Diddy’s longtime friend, producer Charlucci Finney, told the Daily Mail on Wednesday, October 22, that the rapper “woke up with a knife to his throat.” Finney said details about the incident remain unclear, but confirmed that the confrontation happened inside the prison.
“I don’t know whether he fought him off or the guards came, I just know that it happened,” Finney said. According to Finney, the attack may have been intended as a form of intimidation rather than a genuine attempt to kill Combs. “Sean would have been harmed if the offender wanted to harm him, especially since he was already holding a deadly weapon to his throat,” he explained.
Finney described the event as a message to instill fear rather than cause physical injury. “It was probably a way to say: ‘Next time you ain’t gonna be so lucky.’ Everything is intimidation. But with Sean, it won’t work. Sean is from Harlem,” he said
Combs, founder of Bad Boy Records, has been incarcerated since his September 2024 arrest. He was charged with racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking by force, fraud, or coercion, and transportation to engage in prostitution. The charges stemmed from a federal investigation that linked him to an alleged criminal network operating under his direction.
After a trial that began in May, Diddy was sentenced to 50 months in federal prison and ordered to pay a $500,000 fine. Upon completing his sentence, he will face five years of supervised release. The rapper has consistently denied all allegations and entered a plea of not guilty.
Prison authorities have not released an official statement regarding the reported attack. However, Finney’s account suggests that Combs’s high profile may have made him a target inside the facility. Friends and supporters of the artist have expressed concern for his safety, calling for increased protection.
