Sean Cox's wife Martina to release book telling family's story since horrific attack

Sean Cox's story is set to be told in a new book by his wife Martina Cox.

'With Hope in Your Heart', featuring foreword by Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp, is set to be released later this year.

The book will tell the family's story after the Dunboyne father of three was left with serious brain injuries following an attack outside Anfield before the Reds' Champions League clash with AS Roma in April 2018.

Cox is continuing his long rehabilitation and has made some encouraging steps over the past two years, including returning home to Ireland earlier this year.

The book, published by Gills Books and written by Susan Keogh, will be on the shelves on October 28.

"The last two years have been unimaginably difficult,” Martina Cox said.

"But our love for Seán and determination that he gets the best care possible has kept us going. It has been an uphill battle but he is making progress every day.

“The book emphasises how, with the help of family, community, Liverpool and tens of thousands of people across the world who were touched by Seán’s story, we have achieved what was thought to be impossible and we are so grateful for that.”

Reds boss Klopp has also praised Martina's leadership recently, saying: "I often get asked about leadership in football but in 'real life' I can think of no greater example of what a leader is than Seán’s wife, Martina.

"I have followed what she has done for her husband and her family and it has humbled me."
