Sean Connery dead at 90 and world remembers legendary James Bond actor

Hollywood is in mourning after the death of legendary actor Sean Connery.

Early on Saturday afternoon it was confirmed that the film star, most famous for playing James Bond, had passed away at the age of 90.

Sean, who played 007 in the likes of Goldfinger, Thunderball and You Only Live Twice, won an Oscar in 1988 when he was named best supporting actor for his role as an Irish police officer in The Untouchables and also starred in films like The Rock and Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves.

The Edinburgh-born actor was knighted by the Queen at Holyrood Palace in 2000 and fans have been left heartbroken by his death.

One tweeted: "Another legend gone" along with a series of crying emojis and another reacted: "Very sad to hear Sean Connery has passed away aged 90. The original 007 and one of the greatest screen legends will be missed.

A third tweeted: "Omg as if 2020 couldn’t get any worse!! RIP."

Scottish First Minister Nicola Sturgeon also reacted to the news, tweeting: "I was heartbroken to learn this morning of the passing of Sir Sean Connery.

"Our nation today mourns one of her best loved sons," while Scottish actor Robert Caryle, star of Trainspotting and The Full Monty, posted: "RIP Sir Sean Connery.. a trailblazer, a true legend and a gentleman."

Sean is survived by son Jason Connery, 57, who is most famous for starring in Robin of Sherwood.
