Seamus Power received over 2000 messages after Barbasol Championship win

Ireland’s Seamus Power received over two thousand messages in congratulations after his first PGA Tour victory.

The Waterford native secured his first professional win on tour after a dramatic six-hole playoff with JT Poston.

Speaking on a recent podcast, Power spoke of his phone “heating up” with the amount of support flooding in.

“Yeah it was, I think at one point I pulled it out and it was at 2100 messages,” he laughed.

“I haven’t gotten around to answering them all yet, but I’ll try over the next couple of weeks.

“I try make a point to get back to people because in this business there’s so many people that help you.

“I started golf when I was 12 or 13 and for 20 years the list could go on forever there’s so many people to thank.

The victory was huge for the Powers career, gaining him another two-year exemption on the PGA Tour.

He also walked away with a smooth 630,000 dollars and moved to a career high, 113 th in the world rankings.

The 34-year-old is safely inside the FedEx cup playoff rankings now sitting at 69 th . Power will also make his major championship debut next year at the PGA Championship in 2022.
