Seamus Power in the hunt as Matthew Wolff streaks ahead at Rocket Mortgage Classic

Waterford's Seamus Power could be set for his highest ever finish in a PGA Tour event as he heads into his final round at the Rocket Mortage Classic in Detroit.

Power, 33, is tied for fourth place at Detroit Golf Club after following up rounds of 67 and 66 with a three-under par 69 on Saturday.

That left the 2016 Olympian five shots behind solo leader Matthew Wolff, after the 21-year-old American shot a 64 to position himself at -19 heading into the final round - three shots clear of his closest challengers Bryson DeChambeau and Ryan Armour.

Wolff balanced three bogeys with a whopping nine birdies and an eagle to close out the day shooting an eight-under round.

Power has finished fifth in two PGA Tour events since making his debut on tour four years ago and will land at least $307,500 if he can seal a top-five spot at Detroit Golf Club.

Wolff put his birdie barrage down to an ice cream truck he could hear in the background - with the tournament being played behind closed doors due to coronavirus protocols.

"I heard the ice cream truck and I'm like, I have a good feeling about this," Wolff said about his birdie on the fifth hole.

"Just had that little like ice cream truck song in my head and I think that helped me just not think about the speed or the line or anything, just keep my head free."
