Seamus Coleman sends Champions League message to former Everton youth turned Chelsea coach

Everton captain Seamus Coleman has led the congratulations for Chelsea and Republic of Ireland coach Anthony Barry after the London side won the Champions League this weekend.

Thomas Tuchel's side were victorious over Manchester City in Saturday's final in Porto, winning 1-0 thanks to a goal from Kai Havertz in the first half.

Barry, who was with Everton during his youth career, joined Chelsea's coaching team last summer and has helped them towards becoming European champions throughout the campaign.

And, in February of this year, the coach also took a position with the Republic of Ireland national team - with the side now preparing for matches against Andorra and Hungary in the coming week.

As the side prepared for training, captain Coleman was shown in a video on Twitter giving a speech to the entire squad and staff to lead the congratulations to his coach.

The Blues defender said: "Going into Chelsea and you know, I think it's a lesson to us all if we're committed and put everything into our job into our application then we can be successful.

"So, on behalf of all the lads, massive congratulations Anto."

The Republic of Ireland will play two friendlies in the next week, but missed out on qualification for this summer's European Championships.
