Seamus Coleman a doubt for Ireland playoff after going off injured for Everton

Seamus Coleman has become a doubt for the Republic of Ireland's Euro 2020 playoff against Slovakia on Thursday after coming off injured for Everton this afternoon.

The Ireland captain pulled up with what looked to be a hamstring problem ten minutes into the second half of Everton's 4-2 win over Brighton at Goodison Park.

But after Toffees forward Richardlison also came off injured in the match, boss Carlo Ancelotti played down the pair's injuries.

"Small injury, I think, Coleman. Richarlison had the same problem that he had against West Ham in the [Carabao] Cup," he said.

"So we have 15 days to recover them and I think we will be able to do so.

It is still a worry for Ireland boss Stephen Kenny with the play-off semi-final in Bratislava just five days away.

Coleman was an unused substitute for Ireland in their two Nations League matches earlier last month.

But his flying form for table toppers Everton has many calling for his return to the Ireland starting lineup.

Kenny even hinted this week that he was considering playing both Coleman and fellow right-back Matt Doherty in the same eleven.
