Seals in the Clyde: Amazing photos capture seal catching fish in city centre stretch of the river

A seal was spotted catching fish in the River Clyde yesterday morning - adding to a trail of incredible animal sightings in Glasgow of late.

Seal sightings are more common than you might think - but we'd struggle to find a better photo of the fast-moving pinnipeds than this one, as the lucky hunter pops its head out of the Clyde with a juicy fish in its mouth.

The series of photos were shared on Twitter by @ncdominie, who said: "A grey seal, fishing rather successfully in the Clyde beside Glasgow Science Centre this morning. For anyone who was wondering what they found to eat in the middle of the city ..."

The seal's catch is believed to be a salmon.

Indeed, as Glasgow reopens in Level 2 and visitors are allowed into the city once more, it's no surprise that seafood is on the menu for some - but we have a feeling your catch won't be quite as fresh as this guy's Saturday breakfast.

And it's not the first start time startling footage of Glasgow's animal visitors has surfaced recently. A jaw-dropping video of dolphins jumping out the Clyde was captured earlier this week, not to mention rare footage of deer on the busy city streets.

Eagle-eyed spotters saw the mammals - thought to be either dolphins or porpoise - at Erskine Bridge, the Titan Crane in Clydebank and the Glasgow Harbour.
